How Workmaster Are Further Reducing Carbon Emissions & Paper Usage
The chemical industry as a whole is responsible for around 5% of global CO2 emissions. Here at Respirex international and Workmaster Boots we are committed to making a difference where possible and have set the target of being net zero by 2045.
A major step towards that goal will take place in the new year. Previously, all Workmaster boots would be shipped with one set of instructions per pair of boots, requiring the use of a substantial amount of paper & ink, increasing our carbon footprint & the users paper wastage.
However, from the new year we will start to include only one set of User Instructions per five pairs, and we will be changing the label that is on each supply of boots. The new label will include a QR code that will link the user directly to the relevant user instructions for that equipment.

This change not only reduces our carbon footprint, saving 26 trees a year and reducing our C02 emissions by 1.3 tonnes a year but it also allows the wearer to easily & immediately access the relevant instructions, without needing to locate a paper copy of instructions. Making the instructions readily available will also help improve proper use and function, while reducing the amount of paper waste from disposed instructions, and reducing paper & ink usage from printing.
Safety is always at the front of our concerns, and as such we will still be including a paper copy of the user instructions per box of five pairs, providing the user with a physical copy of the instructions should it be needed. This practice will be reviewed following user feedback.

Achieving Our Net Zero Goal
This step is another in the long journey to becoming carbon neutral. Here at Respirex & Workmaster Boots, we have already ventured down that path by generating 30% of our electrical needs in the Redhill & Crawley factories by using solar panels & sourcing the remaining energy requirement from renewable suppliers, to ensure our operations are powered by green energy.
We have also adopted a zero-landfill approach by ensuring all waste products are either recycled or sent to an energy-from-waste recovery facility, with all cardboard packaging coming from 100% recycled materials, further reducing our environmental impact. Finally, our company cars are a combination of electric and hybrid cars, our fleet of commercial vehicles are either electric or comply with EURO 6 & ULEZ requirements, and our forklifts, on-site machinery & offices are supplied by our solar panels, further reducing our use of fossil fuels.
At Respirex & Workmaster boots, we are committed to not only guaranteeing your safety & future, but the safety & future of planet earth, ensuring it is left in the best condition for those that will come to inherit it.
Help us work towards that goal and protect the planet by working with an environmentally conscious PPE supplier.
